Question:
do you think relationships interfere with school life?
Based on the findings of Armstrong and
Hamilton, relationships are usually good; however, they tend to interfere with
a person’s academic work. Mostly, for those people who have committed
relationships, it is possible for the relationship to distract a person from
their main tasks of school. Armstrong and Hamilton interview women and found
that most women were complaining that relationships were affecting their
performance in school because they are demanding of energy and time (475). From
the interview with Hamilton and Armstrong, they realized that most students
consider avoiding relationships when in school because it prevents them from
doing what they should be doing while in college. When in a relationship or
with boyfriends, it tend to be difficult for an individual to make new friends.
Relationships also affect school work because most of the partners always want
to spend time with their girlfriends without understanding that they need time
to complete the assignment. People should know that communication interferes
with school work mostly in regards to added demand on time. When in a
relationship, an individual will have to consider putting extra time so as to
deal with your relationship and also complete your assignments are revise for
examinations.
Key points
1. Research
indicate that more women show no interest in getting into a relationship while
in college because it tends to threaten academic achievement, involve
manipulation, and also get in the way of friendship (477).
2. Most
women tend to be opting for hookups when they are in college because it allows
women to be sexual without encountering the demands of relationships (476).
